Students at Canisius High School in Buffalo are seizing the possible to help students with disabilities.

After volunteering at Heritage Center's Maryvale School, Canisius students decided to raise money for a new playground.

"We didn't know what to expect going in because we never worked with disabled kids before," said Tim Armstrong, a junior at Canisius High School.

Volunteering at Heritage Center's Maryvale School is something Tim cherished. It's a school for developmentally disabled and medically fragile.

Another junior, Matthew Taboni, says it was a good time helping students with homework and learning.

The current playground on the Heritage campus in Cheektowaga can't be used because it doesn't comply with guidelines.

Students are now hosting a gala to help raise money for a new playground, which will cost about $300,000.

Everyone is invited to the gala at the school. It will be April 8th from 6 to 8 p.m.. Each ticket is $50. You can call Canisius High School or click here for more information.
