A 25-year-old Buffalo man is headed to prison for killing his former girlfriend.
A judge sentenced Raymond Smith on Thursday to 24 years to life for the murder of 21-year-old Shaquilla Coston, with whom he has a young son.
Smith pleaded guilty during his murder trial in January.
The murder happened around February 2015 inside Coston's home on Northumberland Avenue. Prosecutors said Smith fatally choked and beat Coston.
