More than 50 companies partnered with the City of Buffalo to offer local teens a chance at a job.

Mayor Byron Brown's office partnered with Otis T. Barker, the Commissioner of Community Services and Recreational Programming to host a first-of-its-kind job fair at the Delavan Grider Community Center.

Companies like Wegmans, Geico, M&T Bank, ECMC, Rosina Foods and Starbucks were at the event. Local colleges also offered information about higher education.

Representatives of the new Northland Workforce Training Center were also present, providing information on advanced manufacturing and energy career training classes which will debut this fall.

Commissioner Barker also announced it is now possible to apply on-line for the Mayor's Summer Youth Internship Program via the City of Buffalo's website.

"For the first time, those applying for the six-week paid summer internship program can fill out and submit their applications on-line.  We are anticipating that by providing easy, on-line access to the forms, we will increase the number of applicants," Commissioner Barker said.

The online forms will be available here
Paper applications will continue to be available at all Buffalo Public and Charter Schools, City Community Centers and at City Hall, Room 1701.

The Mayor's Summer Internship program is open to youth ages 14 to 21, who will be paid $10.40 per hour.  Since its inception in 2006, more than 22,000 young people have participated. Last summer, the City invested a record $1.7 million to offer learn and earn opportunities to nearly 1,700 youths. The deadline for Summer 2018 applications is Friday, April 27th.
