Boston Hills residents: "let it snow!"

BOSTON HILLS, NY (WKBW) - Long-time Western New Yorker and business owner Ken Lindstrom says when it comes to keeping his business afloat - snow or no snow - he’s not worried.

As some begin bunkering down and preparing for the first storm of the year to settle, others are going about their day-to-day lives ready for whatever Mother Nature has in store.

Lindstrom moved to the Boston Hills area when he was 7 years old and has learned to love WNY winters ever since.

27 years ago he opened his family business, a self-named Greenhouse and Christmas Tree Farm and has been successfully running it thanks to loyal customers - rain, shine or snow.

“I mean, when it comes to snow, I haven’t shoveled in years, except for maybe the porch, you know. I would love 3 days off. This year, I’m ahead with inventory, I’m not worried about a little snow, not even a lot,” he said.

Like some others who live in the southtowns, he’s accustomed to snowfall  - and to getting ready for it.

“Our pantry is stocked year round. I mean, I’m from Western New York, that’s just what you do here. I’m more worried for the young people driving around fast in the snow, but us older folks, it’s nothing we haven’t seen and survived year after year,” he continued.

Mark Henning  lives in Hamburg and shops at Lindstrom’s for his Christmas Tree and couldn’t agree more.

“I’ve got everything I need, I’ve learned over the years. This is what we do, so let it snow,” he said proudly holding his new Christmas Tree.

Winters are part of a way of life for folks around here. While everyone's got their own way of preparing, one thing is for sure, experience makes every winter that much easier.
