A teenager in Akron is dead following a car crash over the weekend, and now people in the community have placed a small memorial to Johnny Fiebelkorn on Peters Corner Road.

He was just 17 years old when he died Saturday.

Fiebelkorn was due to start his senior year at Akron High School this year. He was born on January 2, 2000 in Lockport, NY.

His family says he was captain of both the football and wrestling teams. He was also a student council member  and part of the 2015 Homecoming Court.

Fiebelkorn was the Akron Tigers Wrestling Team MVP in his Junior year and qualified to go to states for a third time that same year. Fiebelkorn’s family says his other passions included four-wheeling and deer hunting.

Friends and relatives can call on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 3 - 8 p.m. at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, where the Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. The burial will be at the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Fiebelkorn’s family says in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Johnathan Fiebelkorn’s name to the Akron Tigers Wrestling Team.

The school will have grief counselors available to students Monday. Classes resume Tuesday.
