Six Flags is expanding its 30-Hour Coffin Challenge to all of its theme parks, including Darien Lake. The expansion comes after the Six Flags park in St. Louis received more than 25,000 applications for its version of the contest.

The contest is part of the park's signature Fright Fest event series. Participants must ly completely flat in a coffin for the duration of the contest, with the exception of a six-minute bathroom break every hour. Meals will be provided in the coffin, but contestants have to bring their own pillow and sleeping bag. The theme park is also providing phone charging stations so that participants can post their experiences on social media. Participants can bring a friend for company-- but only during regular operating hours.

Along the way, participants can expect surprise visits from some of the Fright Fest performers.

Coffin dwellers have to meet these requirements:

  • 18 or older with valid photo ID
  • No medical conditions that would make lying in a coffin for 30 hours a health risk
  • Sign a waiver
  • Be able to lie flat and still
  • Provide own sleeping gear (pillow, sleeping bag or blankets)

Participants who successfully complete the 30 hours will receive:

  • $300 cash
  • 2019 Gold Season Passes
  • Express Haunted House Passes

Darien Lake says it's posting applications for the contest soon. You can check their website here.
