Gabrielle Rainville of Amherst has been charged with driving while intoxicated following a wrong-way crash involving a tanker truck on Saturday.
It happened around 4am in the westbound lane near the I-990 interchange.
Part of I-290 was closed for several hours while police investigated.
Police say the 20-year-old woman was driving her car eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-290 and hit the truck head on. She suffered minor injuries and was taken to ECMC for treatment. The truck driver was not hurt.
In addition to a DWI charge, Rainville was also cited for numerous traffic violations.
