A 12-year-old from New Jersey can be seen on home surveillance video walking in on a burglar who was inside his home.
Police are crediting him with his quick thinking, and say his actions helped keep his family safe. In the video you can see the boy walk through the front door of his home, and quickly realize he's not alone.
He quietly slips out of the door he just walked through, and goes over to a neighbor's house. Together they called police. That boy had this advice for other people:
"Lock your doors, do the same thing I did, especially if he has a gun or any other type of weapon," he said. He went on to say that you should get away as quickly as possible, and that's what his DARE officer taught him to do.
The suspect turned out to be a landscaper the family had hired before. The boy recognized him, and police were able to to arrest him.
