One little boy isn't thinking about Santa Claus and presents under the tree this holiday season. He's focused on sick children across Western New York.
Ten-year-old Kwentin Foster loves his blankets. “If I was sick, I would like to have a blanket to comfort me,” he explained.
Kwentin makes blankets for sick kids for organizations like Ronald McDonald House, Make-a-Wish and Women and Children's Hospital. This year, he and his mom, Adrian Foster, reached their goal of 400 blanket donations.
“Care for those kids and provide them with comfort when their sick and bring them joy, even if it’s just for a moment,” Adrian said.
The mother-son team get their supplies through donations and another creative method “We collect cans and take them to cash for cans and get money to buy fabric,” Adrian explained.
This Christmas season, the Foster family is taking things a step further to help the homeless. “We are taking blankets to the Friends of Night for people there for the holiday season."
Kwentin said he hopes that this is a long-term project he can pass on to his 3-year-old sister and baby brother. He also has some advice for other young people.
“Always try to take 20 minutes or a half an hour out of your day to do something for others."
