Grabbing a jug of cider and a dozen fresh cider donuts when the first hint of cold creeps in is a Western New York tradition.
Many flock to Mayer Bros. in West Seneca to grab their fall treats, about 5,000 to 10,000 people a week. Donuts are dropped into the fryer starting at 3:30 a.m. each morning, and fried fresh all day.
The perfect accompaniment to a fresh donut topped with gooey caramel, cream cheese frosting, maple frosting, sprinkles or cinnamon and sugar is fresh apple cider, either frozen, mulled or cool and crisp. To keep up with the growing demand for apple cider, Mayer Bros. is building a new press room next to their shop.
The press will be dedicated to making cider to supplement sales in their store and distribution to other local retailers.
In addition to carrying standby favorites of scone and pancake mixes, local cheeses, jams and pickles, cookie cutters and fun pasta shapes, Mayer Bros. is bringing new items for you each season! They're also bringing back free horse-drawn carriage rides at their pumpkin patch too!
