The number of telemedicine visits in New York State has tripled in the past two years.
About two thirds of those visits have been for medical care, with the remaining third for behavioral health.
"For medical care, telemedicine improves access," Dr. Steven Dina, Medical Director of Univera Healthcare, said. "You can bring a doctor with you wherever you go by using an app or phone.
These are the five most common medical conditions seen in telemedicine:
- Upper respiratory infection
- Urinary tract infection
Dina adds, "for behavioral health, telemedicine can eliminate barriers. Connect with a provider or services from the privacy and comfort of home."
These are the five most common behavioral health conditions seen in telemedicine:
- Adjustment disorder
- Bipolar disorder
If you're interested in telemedicine as an option for you, check with your health insurer to see which provider they recommend.
