We're exploring another place from a new book called '100 Things to Do in Buffalo Before You Die'. It's technically not in Buffalo, but it's pretty close.

Some argue that the hamburger was invented in Hamburg back in the 1880s. Legend says Frank and Charles Menches from Akron, Ohio traveled the country cooking food for different fairs. The brothers were known for their sausage patties. When they were at the Erie County Fair, they ran out and ended up with ground beef from a local butcher. They ended up spicing the patties with brown sugar and coffee and selling the meat between two slices of bread. When a customer asked what that sandwich was called, Frank looked up at the banner for the Hamburg fairgrounds and called it a hamburger!

Juicy Burger Bar on Buffalo Street in Hamburg embraces that history and elevates that classic fair burger into something far more creative. They're topping burgers with Buffalo favorites like a kimmelweck bun, stuffed banana peppers and blue cheese.

Enjoy your burger with a side of fries, poutine, vegan poutine or sweet potato fries!

All the ingredients at the restaurant are sourced as locally as they can be. Cheese curds for the fresh pulled mozzarella sticks from Buffalo Cheese Traders, beer from Hamburg brewing company and local bakers for the buns. The only items from the restaurant that aren't made in house are the mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard.
