Rates of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, have increased in the U.S. in the last 40 years.

Skin cancer doesn’t just affect older people. Teens and young adults are also at risk.

More than five sunburns can double a person’s risk for melanoma.

  • Use a sunscreen with UV-A and UV-B protection, and an SPF of 15 or higher
  • Wear sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat when you’re out in the sun.
  • Avoid indoor tanning
