Becoming a mom is often portrayed as a magical, lifechanging moment, but the truth is not all women feel joyful after giving birth. In the United States, approximately 11.5% of women experience postpartum depression. 

Often confused with “Baby Blues,” PPD is the most common medical complication of childbirth an if left untreated, can have devasting consequences – not only for the mother, but can also impact he family and hinder her infant’s physical, mental and emotional development.

Linda talks with Beth Battaglino, RN, CEO of HealthyWomen about what to do if you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms and new findings from the recent HealthyWomen survey which includes struggles of motherhood that many don’t talk about and common misperceptions of PPD.
