Diagnosed with autism at age 4 Taylor Duncan faced a life of limits. He says he had speech issues, sensory and anxiety issues growing up. He said he still faces a lot of social stigmas from peers as he got older, and it often precluded him from playing traditional baseball when he was much younger. This experience led Duncan to create an entirely new league without limits. Alternative baseball provides an alternate baseball experience for those age 15 and older with autism and other disabilities. Everyone is accepted for who they are, and they encourage everyone to be the best they can be, and they instill confidence needed for everyone for everyone on and off the baseball diamond.

It began in Georgia in 2016 and two years ago, Taylor Duncan began expanding the league nationally. Western New York is the next in site to get the ball rolling. Taylor Duncan says his favorite part about being a part of this experience is watching everyone learn and grow. He says they do their best to push their boundaries as far as they can so they too can realize they are capable of so much more than even they may realize and in their imagination. He goes on to say that some go on from their program and go out and try to get and hold down jobs and that they want to go out and make the most of their lives and be successful. They try to help instill confidence for them to go out and fulfill those dreams on and off the baseball diamond.

Are you the next coach/manager? Do you want to play or volunteer?
