Women have been an important part of all 60 years of WKBW's history, starting with the first woman on the air, Doris Jones, in 1958.

"Television was new, everybody was new, you know, we had no scripts, no teleprompter," Jones said of her early days on television.

Jones hosted a television program called "For The Ladies" on WKBW. It fulfilled a mandate by the FCC requiring the young station to have a show specifically for women. The program was a daily talk show with a live audience. It featured live music and guests like baseball legend Jackie Robinson.

Next came Liz Dribben, who started as a production assistant at WKBW in 1959. By 1964, she was co-host of "Dialing for Dollars." Dribben hosted her own show, "In Conversation," becoming the first woman television anchor in Buffalo.
