Paul Blames Federal Reserve for Weak Economy
by Associated Press
Tuesday, January 22, 2008

 |
KENNER, La. — Ron Paul, a Republican presidential contender and Texas congressman, said Monday that the Federal Reserve is to blame for the country’s weakening economy.
Paul highlighted his economic remedies — abolishing the federal income tax and returning to the gold standard, among them — on a three-city tour of Louisiana.
The libertarian-minded Paul was the only candidate to visit Louisiana on the eve of the state’s Republican caucuses Tuesday. The caucuses are an intermediary step in picking a favorite candidate. A presidential primary will take place on Feb. 9 and a state convention will convene on Feb. 16.
Paul blamed the Federal Reserve for the current economic conditions; stock markets worldwide fell Monday after Wall Street declined last week. On his Web site, he said the Fed has taken the United States “into a terrible crisis.”
Paul told an overflow crowd at a suburban New Orleans hotel Monday that the Fed has allowed the dollar to weaken, which in turn, he said, has hurt the middle class and led to inflation.
“I would enjoy being the next president to get rid of our central bank,” he told supporters. The crowd gave him a raucous welcome, chanting at one point, “Who dat? Who dat say they’re gonna beat Ron Paul?” — a riff on a popular football chant for the New Orleans Saints.
Paul, on his Web site Monday, said the economic policies of his opponents are based on ill-advised “print-and-spend” theories. He added that he would cure the economic crisis by ending the “hyper-expensive, hyper-dangerous empire all around the globe.”
Paul is a 10-term congressman from southeast Texas whose campaign differs on many points from most of his Republican rivals. He opposes the Iraq war and the death penalty, for instance, and votes against military appropriations.
He would also like to abolish the Education Department, Energy Department and Internal Revenue Service. He is against abortion and gun control.
In Nevada, Paul was a distant second to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Still, Paul called Nevada “a shot in the arm” and pledged to keep campaigning “all the way through a brokered convention.”
As of late, Paul has been raising hefty sums, pulling in about $20 million in the last quarter of 2007, according to his campaign.
He’s been running an Internet-driven campaign, trying to appeal to and excite younger and libertarian-minded voters. Monday marked another so-called “Money Bomb,” in which his campaign aims to raise as much money online as possible in one day.

I have four children at this school. I have turned down scholarships just to keep them there. I have not had one complaint for five years. Every single teacher/staff were always very professional and polite. They have done nothing but show deep concern for my children....Well that is until this one teacher appeared in our lives. I will address her as teacher #1. The ending of the last school year was the first encounter from teacher #1. My twelve year old son had appointments that would cause him to get to school a bit late. A few of his late days were mistakenly marked as absences. I get a call from teacher#1 saying ''He is going to repeat this grade because he has missed too many days''! I attempt to explain that he has not missed that many days, however she wasn't showing any interest in my words. Then she said ''I'm not threathening you but you will go to jail by him missing school so much'' she went on to say, ''I have seen it happen to this one lady, I'm not threathening you but you will be put in jail'' I tried to respect her concern even though she had a bad tone, which is disrespectful to me. Also she did threathen me with her choice of words, a few times repeating heself. I politely said ''Ok, he will be in school everyday'', and that ended. I quickly called staff #1 of the school and told what just happened. I was told to ignore teacher #1's words because they were not true, I was directed to call the attendence person and we went over the dates in question, yes they were all tardy days not absent days. Weeks later I get attendence court for my son, I told staff#1 that it was a mistake, she said just go anyway it's a good judge. We show up on monday and my son promised to be in school everyday. Next Monday we were called back as a weekly thing. I explained how obvious it is that I am ill and I can't make it here every week, staff #1 understood perfectly so I didn't need to be present with my son. That school year ended, now it's this one. I took pain medicine to make it to the open house, barely able to walk. Teacher #1 happens to be my eleven year old daughter's teacher. She saw my daughter standing next to me, so with-out any introduction she began to rant ''She needs to pay attention more, and work faster. She needs to speed it up or else. etc...etc...etc...'' I tried to speak and tell he that my daughter has been tested and it is proven that she has special needs. Teacher #1 loudly says ...''No! that is only fourty-five minutes, nobody gets more than that SHE IS SLOW....SLOW.... SHE IS.SLOW...''OMG!! I was crushed I couldn't argue with her about her attitude because my daughter was right next to me. I went downstairs and I was so hurt it showed. Teacher #2 asked me was I ok. I told her what just happened. She wasn't happy about it, she said don't worry they will make sure my daughter is still given her special care. I was hurt daily knowing my child would be subjected to teacher#1. I was so hurt inside. I would hear my child saying ''she's slow... she's slow ...she's slow'' and I became angry knowing that my child has been scared by those words from teacher #1. I tried my best to explain to her how some people are. The day after the election teacher #1 said to my child and her classmates ''I know you blacks and spanish and mexican people/families voted for Obama'' The children replied ''yes we did want him to win, not because he is black but because he was the opposite of Bush. Who did you vote for?'' She replid ''Oh I voted for Mcain'' <she said more on this topic amongst her eleven year old students, however I am still waiting to speak with the principal first>. I called the school as son as I heard my child repeat the conversation amongst teacher #1 and the students. Not available so I had to leave a message. The next day I called again, I finally received an explanation. I asked to speak with someone close to her, I as connected to a full voice mail and a good-bye. I called Staff #1 and explained day one of the story. Se said I should talkto the principal too. She told me to make sure I call her in the morni9ng to catch her. She told me if I don't get the principal by noon let her know she will get to her for me. My child comes home from school and says '' Mom did you tell someone I told you?'' I felt so betrayed, but then I thought about it. I had to come here to share this story. I am so hurt and I feel let down. Is this a problem because of the elected and an eeryday attitude mixed? Is this allowed in our public schools now? What are the boundaries? When do we speak out, When it's too late? Who do we call first? I am needing to clear my mind as well as my childs mind, it's not going t be easy at all. I'm afraid of teacher#1 being around any of our children now. Whom else is secretly holding in anger because of the president elect? Our milk makers? Our cereal manufacturers? It's scary and this is no way to live feeling like who's anger will we be a victum of?

For the local elections here in Buffalo, I am supporting Dennis Delano for State Senate and Brian Higgins for U.S. Congress.
As a Democrat, I'm supporting Dennis Delano for State Senate because he has shown that he is a candidate for change in our state government. He wants to stop the political bickering and dysfunction in Albany, to demand answers and solutions for the problems we are facing, and find out exactly where our taxpayer money has been going. It's time that we place new, fresh minded people in Albany, Democrat or Republican.
I am also supporting the re-election of Congressman Brian Higgins because he has seemed to have been the only local politician that has gotten things started and accomplished as soon as he was elected into office. In his four years in office, he finally got the waterfront developing. Something we have been waiting decades for to start. He won fights against the New York Power Authority, the NYS Thruway Authority (removing the tolls from the 190 into downtown Buffalo), and has been our voice in government when others were not.
It's time that we "Vote for Change" in all levels of government because "Yes We Can" change and fix broken and outdated ways of doing things. Please vote on Tuesday, November 4, 2008.

The anti-war rally organized on the final day of the Republican National Convention in St. Paul ended in fine form after marchers were thwarted by police in every attempt to come within even 1,000 yards of the Excel Energy Center. The marchers began at 4:00 pm and attempted several times to find a route across the freeway to gain access to the convention area. After several hours of being blocked by police, the crowd was directed in the opposite direction, landing on University Ave, a main road that runs between St. Paul and Minneapolis. After blocking traffic in their march back toward the state capital at around 8:30 pm, the police had had enough. Tear gas, flash grenades and pepper spray sent people scattering for cover through the parking lot of Sears as police on bikes, horses, motorcycles and ATV rolled in. Marchers were eventually cornered near a freeway bridge where they were rounded up and arrested. According to CNN about 200 people were arrested, but I cannot be sure myself. There was a very large group of people that were eventually surrounded so I would not be surprised. I was able to get through the line of officers before they closed in. As an outside observer of the march, it was unfortunate to see the police take such harsh measures against what was a very peaceful demonstration. Police donned full body armor, large wooden batons and were very liberal in their use of non-leathal, but rather painful weapons. The marchers never even came close to reaching the convention site and even if they had, the area was completely blocked off by large metal grates that formed a walled perimeter around the arena. Good luck to the St. Paul District Attorney in processing all of these cases and what it's going to cost tax payers God only knows.

A mother (Karin D., 45) from Carinthia (Austria) indicates that her two children (Gerald D., 23, and Manuel D., 15) were violently driven in the system of "criminally organized health care" by the Austrian authority!

Both children (including the mother) have been injured with "severe medications" which were injurious to health and sexual abuse for years in care homes or mental constitutions (especially her older son), but the authorities "leaves cold" those things, although they are the causers!!!

Her oldest son (Gerald D.) now has many health damages (emotional and physically) carried away because of this unnecessary torture and now as a result he need to recover again from that, which is very difficult to him!

These events were originally occasioned by his father Ing Bernhard H., who hated him since birth, who also had strong influence to the authorities to ruin his life and that from his family!

Therefore the entire family fled to Canada (Toronto Area) in May 2000 and again in September 2001 and applied there for refugee status but without any sucess!

So the all were sent back in December 2002 except the older son, who remained there until end of June 2003 by applying a Pre-Removal-Risk-Assessment (which is a very last chance to prove why it's a risk to return to your home country), but also without any sucess and was deported (including his entire family)!!!

The older son also visited High School in Canada (in Shelburne, Ontario) in the year of 2002 - 2003 with very good success, however he still requires one year for his graduation (diploma), but the austrian authorities alike the Canadian Embassy in Vienna are prohibiting the entry to Canada, although he owns a valid passport also a police certificate with "exempt from punishment" and sponsion (friends who can offer shelter for him)!!!

In addition, her youngest son (Manuel D.) wasn't at any public elementary or secondary school in his district for more than 3 years (from February 2004 to March 2007), but the authorities (school board, children's aid, district court, etc.) deny everything and now they "shuffle off" their guiltiness to the mother concerned!!!

The mother and her younger son are in group homes here in Austria right now (the mother was put near Liebenfels in Carinthia at the "Forensische Rehabilitation" and her younger son in Hinterbrühl, Lower Austria at the "SOS Kinderdorf")!

This cruel and inexpressible affliction of the entire family must not remain anonymous in no case, because anonymity is deadly, which means that this family now lives in greatest danger (the reasons can be found at this website here www.freewebs.com/durnig !
Please read the storys of this site and help this family as good as you just can!!!

THIS REALLY IS A CRY FOR HELP TO THE PUBLIC!!!

The human rights group Amnesty International brought a replica Guantanamo Bay prison cell to the Republican National Convention in St. Paul for people to tour. The cell did not look very comfortable. I'm about 6' tall so anyone my height isn't sleeping very well. It seemed to be the same deal as something you might see in a high security American prison. Organizers were dressed in orange jumpsuits and were giving talks and handing out literature. They said they also brought the cell to the Democratic convention last week. Of course, both John McCain and Barack Obama say they plan to close Guantanamo Bay, and both have been explicit in their opposition to torture, but it's hard to hate on Amnesty International so I didn't bring it up. They are certainly trying to fight the good fight. This exhibit was open all week near the Excel Energy Center on 7th and Walnut.
