The small Northwestern town of Mt. Jewett lost their school when the local school district closed it's doors this past June. Since then, there has been a large movment to placen a Charter School in this small town. The community is rallying behind the Mt. Jewett Charter Coalition to provide the funds to get the school up and running. However, the Kane Area School District will not let them use the school located directly in their town!It now becomes a battle over the deed restrictions placed on the property the school sits on and who can get the upper hand.
This school was the "Heart" of the community and Mt. Jewett is not about to give up easily. In fact, a community block party is scheduled for July 21st to raise additional funds for legal fees. Business owners have donated the use of a bldg. for an office, and various other items. Our town would love some coverage on the fight for OUR charter school!!
