My brother & sister in law that sent us the last pictures of the snowfall in the Washington, DC area ( they live south of the area in Woodbridge, VA) sent us pictures again and some descriptions. I hope you enjoy these.
Hi Folks,
Our streak of mild winters (6) is over.We are surviving the blizzard of 2010 and haven't lost power. It started about 9 AM Friday and has not let up yet. Here are some pictures of the front of the house and both cars buried in the driveway.
The 2nd one is looking down the backyard. The pine trees are burdened with the snow and starting to bend.
Tony measures our snowfall.
The record snowfall for WDC is 28 inches set in 1922. This is the first winter where we've received two major storms - the first was in December 19/20, 2009. The news media is calling this storm event "Snowmageddon" or "Snowpocalypse". The Post Offices throughout the area are all closed and even die-hard Potomac Mills Mall closed for the day. The VA & MD governors have declared "states of emergency" and there are no vehicles moving outside. The snow leader as of 10 am was a small town outside Baltimore - Elkridge - they've received 32 inches. Tony measured depths of 18 to 20 inches.
We will wait on shoveling the front until tomorrow or March!.
Alma & Tony
