This exhibition is not the first to attempt to point out common principles in some of the world’s largest religions, but it may be the first with an Afro-centric perspective. Compassion opens on July 5 from 7-9 p.m. at Unity Gallery at the Unity Church of Practical Christianity at 1243 Delaware Avenue
Buffalo, NY 14209
This art preaches neither gospel nor politics, however it does encourage the viewer to set aside long held assumptions about the nature of religion. “I’m not trying to change the world. I’m just pointing out the obvious from my perspective,” said Ford
After it’s opening at FIU, the exhibition will travel to Gallery 6 in Fort Lauderdale in April 2007, then to Unity Gallery in Buffalo, New York in July 2007. The works, not yet shown publicly, are already stirring up a buzz. It must be said that the works in this exhibition beautifully and lovingly celebrate reverence to the Creator-whatever name one uses to pray-Allah, Jesus, or God.
