Sweeney Street in North Tonawanda is closed in both directions this afternoon, due to a single car accident between Clare and South Meadow Drive. Observers report that a NT High School Senior dressed for tonight's high school prom demolished a telephone pole on her way to her mother's home to have photographs taken. The driver immediately behind the student told me he spoke to her until the ambulance, fire department, and police arrived, and that she was conscious at the scene. A small cut on her face was the only visible injury. The accident occurred shortly after 3 PM. Both airbags deployed. There were no reports of telephone or power outages in the area.
