Please Help Brody

A Lost Puppy now possibly A Stolen Puppy

A Lost Puppy now possibly A Stolen Puppy

Oct. 4th, Brody went missing in the Village of Sloan. Many neighbors had come out to help and the search was on. Frantically, in the pouring rain, we were all looking. Brody's three "brothers" and "sister" went to bed crying that night because we could not find him. By morning, flyers were up, and all four Cheektowaga/Sloan schools were notified and have been announcing it. At the end of school, calls came in spotting Brody at bus stops, but that was seven hours ago. We were back out searching closer to the home all morning but Brody had been further away then expected.

Cheektowaga Dog Warden returned my call at 7am Monday. Reports were also filed with SPCA, Buffalo Dog Shelter, two police departments, the railroad security and a couple UPS drivers. The search continued straight into the night and early morning hours.

On Tues. more posters were put up expanding search area into Lovejoy and Cheektowaga. Again, we were out till 1am walking 32 blocks in the pouring rain, calling for him.

The news of Brody missing had to be expanded, quickly. Brody is a delicate puppy with special needs. He was the runt of the litter and needs weekly medicine. That didn’t matter to me. I fell in love with him when he was four weeks old. He is a small breed dog and will only be 8 to 10 lbs full grown. So contrary to what the dog warden and this caller believe he is not malnourished and underweight. And on his vet check up, I had brought up his size and she said he was fine.

Wednesday brought a new idea and pleading with my friends on face book, I asked for them to repost his picture and information to all their friends. Within 15 seconds, over 3,000 pictures of Brody went out. Within a half hour I received an email telling me to call this number and ask for a certain person. They had information about Brody.

Turns out the person they referred me to was the Cheektowaga Dog Warden, whom I had spoken to three times in the last two days. When I called, he said he did get a call. The male caller mentioned he had a small dog in bad shape. The man was told that someone had called missing the dog but when told to bring the dog in, the caller hung up without leaving any information.

What bothers me is that in those first three days I kept in touch with the dog Warden, his story kept changing. First there was no way to track the caller. Next time I call, he stated that it was not a call from a 716 area code. How would he know that if, like he stated earlier, there was no way of tracking the number????? Three days later, after talking with the Town supervisors secretary, miraculously I find out they have records of all incoming calls. When the Warden was asked when he received the call, he wasn’t sure. When asked again, he had it down to Monday morning… a few hours after he spoke to me.

When asked why he did not call me at all in the past three days to tell me, he first stated “I get a lot of calls everyday dealing with dogs.” On my second call that changed to he didn’t want to get my hopes up. He wanted me to keep looking but I probably won’t get him back. Believe it or not he then told me of coyotes being caught by the railroad tracks and Brody may have been eaten by one or more of them!! Why would someone in his position want to make it a point to say something so horrible??

Three of four of my children have been sent home sick from school this past week. I myself have gotten sick. Could it have been from us being in the cold and rain for three nights searching for him when this warden KNEW of this phone call three days prior and never called us? Isn’t it his job to help people try and get reunited with their pets. I don’t care about how many dogs he finds and the owners who never search. THIS owner IS searching and I am not giving up until I find him.

On Friday, I spoke with the warden on the phone AND went there in person to drop off Brody’s picture. He said he believes the call may have been an Arizona phone number but is “not sure”. But with his stories always changing, I’m not sure of him. He mentioned he can’t believe how worried and persistent I am being. He promised to call me back later Friday either way and never did. I believe he is NOT doing all he can like he says he is.

So, for the man who is now unlawfully holding my puppy, I will NOT press charges, as long as he is returned now. He NEEDS his medication. You do not know his history. You may think your saving him, but your not.

Please, I am begging you, do the right thing and return him to us. If you are self-claiming to be an animal lover and don’t believe Brody is loved and cared for deeply then you need to come and meet the four children you are keeping him from. Brody has been with me everywhere for the last two months, since the day I brought him home. It was just on that Sunday, I could not bring him to the job I was going to and had to leave him home. Being recently divorced, the children had left with their father later in the day. I did not get home from work until 7:15 that night. Brody did not greet me at the door. After hysterically searching inside the house, I was out, with neighbors, searching for him by 7:40 pm. I have barely slept since my baby has been gone. My children continue daily to search and two of them cry nightly for Brody. I try to explain he is okay but you know children, they can’t believe that until they see him again… but, how can I expect them to believe that when I myself don’t and continue with my own anxiety and secretly crying.

I thank you for picking him up on Monday morning, it was awful, beyond your worse nightmare, thinking he was out there cold and alone for three days in the high howling winds and rain. You started doing the right thing calling the dog warden, you just need to PLEASE follow through and return him to me.

There is no reason why I should have to explain what happened, it was nothing more than a horrible mishap that took him from us. So if this is what you needed to know to understand Brody is the most loved and cared for puppy, you now know what happened. The fact of the matter is, YOU have my baby, and we desperately want him back. Please do the right thing and call (716) 866-0826.
WE LOVE and MISS BRODY SO VERY MUCH.

For everyone who has so kindly taken the time to read this, please be on the lookout for any neighbors who may have recently gotten a new puppy matching Brody and please call us. (especially in the Village of Sloan, Cheektowaga, or Lovejoy area). Thank You.

Kathy, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is so nice to know that my message was at least heard by one person with the love and understanding it takes to know the pain of what a broken heart feels like over losing something so dear...

Did they find their baby yet? I love my pets so know what it would be like if they were missing. I'll pray for your dogs safe return.
