A Fragile Balance II

This picture was taken on Friday, September 11, 2009 at the East River Marsh Restoration Project at the the southerly tip of Grand Island in Beaver Island State Park.

The photo shows a great egret sitting atop a tree stump in a very species diverse marsh that not long ago was void of aquatic habitat due to the activities of man. The marsh now provides valuable habaitat to a wide range of fish and wildlife sprecies.
