CYC lends a hand to residents of Gowanda

Kids of the CYC assist in Gowanda

The youth Corps recieved a call from a resident of Gowanda asking for help, so this morning a team of teens and young adults loaded a van and trailer with tools equipment to help, off they went to Gowanda. After helping the caller we started going deeper into the village and with each turn we saw more and more devastation. Some of the emotions were running high. Families pouring their lifes worth of mud covered belongings out on the street edge for the world to see and disposing of years of precious memories of photos and family heirllooms. The whole team found a determined attitude from residents to overcome the situation they are in. A great opportunity for young people to see what real problems are. The day put our own problems into perspective. A boyfriend or girlfriend argument is big to a teen but when faced with true problems and see people overcoming with a smile put the young people into a new frame of mind. Thus by the grace of God There goeth I.

You all were a Godsend. We were able to wash and save my clothes you guys brought up and the work you started on our basement helped get the ball rolling for us to begin planning clean up. Thank you for caring!
