As a resident of Aldrich street of over 25 years, I never expected to see flooding like this.
By 12:30am last night, waters had risen higher than they every had, even in the flood of 1986 which until this point was the worst in my lifetime. By 1am, water was rushing in through my basement window in torrents that nothing could stop. My family could hear it as if a waterfall was gushing at full force in the basement. The power was completely out by this time and we were helpess to do anything, just pray the water level would drop before the situation became deadly.
Everything from garbage bins, televisions, patio furnishings and even car parts floated by my home in the two hours that the street remained filled with water. By 3am, only the street remained flooded by the damage was done - everything was thick with mud and out hot water heater, washer, dryer, furnace and car are more than likely complete losses. With no flood coverage, we aren't sure what we can do.
More storms are predicted to hit tonight for our area. Residents are in a state of shock and trying their best to recover from massive losses and damage. This is going to take a lot of time to clean up, we can only pray this will be the worst that will hit us during this weather pattern.
