Cheryl Gorski's Solo Show Aug 6th 5-9pm

Nationally recognized fashion and fine art photographer Cheryl Gorski debuts "Life After Burning,"
a solo photography exhibit on August 6th 2009 at the Karpeles Manuscript Museum, located
at 453 Porter Ave, in Buffalo NY. The show is slated to run August 6th to September 18th
2009
An opening reception will be held on August 6, 2009, from 5 to 9 p.m., at the Karpeles
Manuscript Museum, located a few steps west of Kleinhans Music Hall. The museum is a renovated
church with ample parking. The artist will be available for a brief presentation and to answer
questions about her career.
Life After Burning juxtaposes international performers and local models with the abandoned
buildings of Buffalo's East Side. The collection evokes the inevitable sense of loss of materiality
represented by the burned buildings, but celebrates life represented by the vitality, and burning
emotions, of the performers in each image. The collection consists of 37 black and white images.
"I first discovered these buildings in 2007, and was struck by their stark contrast to the
rest of the city, and the finality of their abandonment. The images remained in my mind, and
I began taking models there in 2008 and 2009. " says Gorski. "I'm pleased to share Life After
Burning with the City of Buffalo."
Admission to Life After Burning is free, and light refreshments will be served during the opening,
with a live jazz trio , Emile Lattimer, Sabu and Bob Davis. Please donate a toiletry ( tooth
paste, tooth brush, deodorant, shampoo, etc... ) for the orphan children of Gateway/Longview
Orphanage. There will be a drop off bin located at the opening.
