This is a picture of Great Egret soaring over the Niagara River on Saturday, May 9, 2009. The photo was taken from the nature train in Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island.

Great Egrets can reach a height of 38 inches as adults, and the birds are now common residents of the Uppper Niagara River.
