Eagles have nested near our home in Cattaraugus NY for about three years now. We see them all the time. This eagle was circling above our field last week, May 2'nd, so I grabbed my camera. I was amazed when it landed. It appeared to be eating. Then it tried to fly off with a woodchuck! It carried it about ten feet then dropped it. I think it was too heavy. It laid there for a few days and is now gone. I don't know if the eagle finished it off or some other preditor did.
