At 3:45 pm on wednesday April 8th, 2009 a major crash occured on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Wheatfield area. This crash would block off a major span of the road which would back up traffic on Ward Road as it was the detour around the crash. The crash was between a red minivan and a smaller gray sportslike car. The front end of both vehicles were completely totaled leading me to the assumption of a head on crash. When arriving at the scene, firefighters were directing traffic away from the crash. The medical helicopter was within 30 to 40 yards of the detour road. The helicopter would be gone by 4:05 pm, when returning to the scene firefighters and police were investigating the accident with both cars still in sight and traffic still being directed away from that section of the road. Overall, whenever this happens it is a nasty sight especially when medical helicopters accompany the scene because that leads to the assumption that one or more persons are in critical condition or unconscious.
