Truck on Fire in Batavia

Truck Fire in Batavia Today

There was a truck fire at the stop light in Batavia, ny today. I am not sure how it started but it appeared to have started in the motor. The firefighters were just arriving when I saw the fire. The truck was westbound on rt 63 in front of autozone stopped at the light in front of BJ's plaza. I did not see anyone in the truck and there were no ambulances on the scene so I am sure the driver escaped without injury. It took a little while for the the water to get turned on so that the firemen could fight the fire. After the fire was put out, they tried to oopen the hood in order to put more water oin the engine. They had to use a saw in order to cut the metal on the fron of the hood in order to get it open. They began the clean up and a wrecker came and took the truck away. The smell of burning rubber ligered in the air for quite awile afterwards.
