The Camerata di Sant' Antonio's launches its 6th season with an evening of romantic works on Sunday, October 5th at 7:00 p.m. under the baton of Music Director Christopher Weber. Celebrating 2008 as the 150th anniversary of the birth of Giacomo Puccini, the program begins with a string arrangement of Musetta's Waltz from La Boheme. Then, sit back and enjoy Guillaume Lekeu's luscious Adagio (Les fleurs pales du souvenir), a singularly beautiful and rarely heard work that has been quite neglected in U. S. concert halls for nearly half a century. Camerata violinist Antoine LeFebvre will close the first half of the program in a performance of the Rondo in A for Violin and Strings by Franz Schubert.
The Camerata strings will open the second half of the concert with Maestro Weber's own arrangement of Schumann's Traumerei. They will conclude with the Variations on a Theme of Tchaikowsky by Anton Arensky. As always, there will be a reception following the concert where you can meet the performers and enjoy the amiable company of your fellow Camerati.
Tickets are available in advance by calling 854-2563, or may be obtained at the door. St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 160 Court St., behind City Hall. www.cameratabuffalo.com
