2 Year Old Hero

My family and I were shopping at Target on Walden Ave. in Cheektowaga. My two girls Matelyn, 2, and Zoey, 1, were in the shopping cart pushed by my husband, Matthew. While reading a friend's bridal registry, Matelyn says "Mommy, that lady take your purse." Once I realized what she said, I ran to the front of the store to stop the lady, who had been standing near our cart and conversing with Matthew right before the theft. I refused to believe that nobody had seen a soon-due pregnant woman run through the store with my purse! Security searched the store, police arrived, and I was in tears. My phone, our money, bank cards, credit cards, license, gone. They were able to confirm she had already left the store and could not make out her license plate from the video. Convinced the thief would receive no justice, we walked to our van to leave the store. Just then, the officer helping us started running towards us in the parking lot yelling "They got her!" I could not believe it. The police searched the area for a similar looking vehicle, and atually found her at a store down the street. After she had already drained my bank account, of course, but they arrested her and found some very illegal things in her posession besides my belongings. If my daughter hadn't told me that my purse was taken, I wouldn't have even noticed until checkout a good Target hour later (Which could mean longer). The thief would've been long gone. Matelyn is so amazing and is too young to realize it. She still talks about it to this day. She was able to get a prize, the Princess Barbie she mentions at the end of the video, for being mommy's hero.
