West Seneca officials gave approval Monday for a new farmers’ market that would open in May 2014 in the center of town.
The upscale open-air farmers’ market and marketplace on the grassy hill at Main Street and Union Road, in front of Town Hall and within walking distance of several neighborhoods, was proposed by West Seneca native Joe Kirchmyer. Kirchmyer is also involved with marketing efforts for the popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market in Buffalo and the Winter Market at Horsefeathers on Buffalo’s West Side.
The market will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evenings from May 15 through Sept. 4. With a concept similar to the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, the Main Street Marketplace in West Seneca will feature farmers and food producers on a grassy venue, with music or entertainment and participation by community groups.
For more information or to request an application, vendors are encouraged to contact Kirchmyer at email@example.com. You can also follow the market on Facebook at www.facebook.com/pages/Main-Street-Marketplace-West-Seneca/557653200974306.
