A wide variety of creative offerings are planned at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery in West Seneca. Kicking off the festivities is the gallery’s October exhibit, “Realism with an Abstract Twist,” featuring the work of artist Walter Stephen Mayo. The exhibit will be open to the public from Oct. 9 through Nov. 2, with an opening reception scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11.
Colored pencil classes with artist Cindi O’Mara are taking place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through October and November. These classes are open to all artists, from beginner to advanced.
“Color It – Wear It,” a silk scarf class with artist Linda Swanekamp, is scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. Participants will create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind silk scarf. If you can scribble and doodle, you can do it! The cost is $30 for gallery members and $35 for non-members.
In the next Wine, Women & Art class with artist Andrea Oswald, guests will create a set of fall pumpkin wine glasses. The session takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, and the cost of $25 includes wine, art, goodies and girl talk.
Create a traditional wood handle hearth broom with artist Karen Koch at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. The cost is $35 for gallery members and $40 for non-members. A turkey broom class with Koch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21.
Pen and ink drawing classes with artist Lynn M. Jay will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 18, 25 and Dec. 2. The cost for the course is $75 for gallery members and $80 for non-members.
Figure drawing classes with artist Diane Wright are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 13 and 20. The cost is $45 for gallery members and $50 for non-members.
And finally, an amateur photography contest with a “WNY Architecture” theme will be held in December. Photos can include subjects such as historical buildings, lake cottages, silos, industrial buildings, your own home, bridges, parks and more. The deadline is 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, with an awards ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 7. Entries will remain on display at the gallery through Dec. 21.
