Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village will once again host its annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat event on Oct. 25 and 26, and it promises to be a ghostly good time!
A safe and gently spooky outdoor event for children ages 3 to 12, this popular event attracts nearly 3,000 costumed visitors each year. With paid admission, children and adults can experience 10 Halloween-decorated historic buildings set on 35 beautiful acres while participating in themed activities on village grounds.
Participants will receive trick-or-treat bags, treats at each of the historic buildings, and free refreshments and snacks. Children should wear costumes appropriate for this outdoor event. The only thing families are asked to bring to the activity — which takes approximately one hour to complete — is a flashlight.
Local businesses and organizations can also take part by sponsoring and decorating one of the themed historic homes and passing out candy to costumed trick-or-treaters. Sponsors will receive recognition in Heritage Village mailings and on the Halloween Trick-or-Treat map. Sponsorship of a historic building’s treat stop also allows you to advertise your business or group with coupons, giveaways and more to roughly 3,000 visitors.
Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village is also seeking donations of items including, but not limited to, cider, doughnuts/doughnut holes, popcorn, candy and coffee for the guest refreshment area. Cash donations are also gratefully accepted.
Groups of trick-or-treaters will be set off on the trail every 15 minute from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, and from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. The cost is just $8 per child and $5 for adults; adult museum members are free.
