Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a museum? Are you interested in knowing where all of the objects are stored and how they are cared for? If so, Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village has special tours planned that you won’t want to miss!
Behind-the-scenes tours, led by Heritage Village curators, will offer a backstage pass into the restricted areas of the museum where guests can see how artifacts are selected for the collection, stored and preserved for future generations. Participants will be introduced to a variety of fabric prints used in historic quilts dating back to the early 1800s. These quilts are a visual delight and surprisingly modern looking even today. Tour attendees will also learn how to identify fabrics and the fascinating story about their production.
You won’t want to miss this private viewing of one of BNHV’s most impressive collections. These unique tours are also a great gift idea for the history buff in your family or circle of friends. Reservations are required; please call today to reserve your spot on one of the upcoming tours.
Tours will be offered at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, and 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst.
