If the 2013-2014 academic year is anything like last year, the Bishop Timon – St. Jude High School Community has many reasons to celebrate and look forward with great anticipation.
When the doors opened on the first day of school in September last year, every student received his own laptop and carrying case. The reaction was immediate and positive. Outstanding work was accomplished in the classrooms by teachers and the young men were able to learn at a pace and level that is truly remarkable. It changed the educational landscape at Timon.
Last year Timon’s athletic program was a force to be reckoned with; the football, basketball and hockey teams competed in their respective championship games, the growing crew program continued to capture state titles and the lacrosse team won the Msgr. Martin and New York State Catholic League championships. The Timon Tigers anticipate another year of challenge to their competitors from larger schools.
The most exciting news at Timon, however, is enrollment. Through the success of new academic initiatives, athletic excellence and leadership development, Timon’s enrollment has stabilized over the past few years and is attracting students from throughout Western New York. This year’s freshman class, for example, will be one of the largest in a decade. Timon will also welcome international students as part of its four year college preparatory program.
The sentiment among many within the community is that Timon is the place to be!
