West Seneca’s Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery will host the opening reception for an exhibit titled “The Evans Art Guild — 40 Years and Still Going Strong,” from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road. Free and open to the public, guests are invited to stop in and meet the artists. The exhibit will remain on display through July 5.
Entries for an amateur photography contest, “The Essence of Water,” are due by Wednesday, June 5. Subject matter should include lakes, creeks, steams, beaches, waterfalls, etc. Photographers can submit up to three 8x10 photos mounted on foam core. There is an entry fee of $15, and a reception with prizes will be held on Saturday, June 8.
Also in June, acrylic painting classes with local artist Phillip Schulte will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evenings, June 4, 11, 18 and 25. The cost is $80 per student and a supply list is available on the Enjoy The Journey website. Participants will learn techniques, color mixing, application and more as they create their own painting.
At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, artist Karen Koch will offer a whisk broom class. The cost to participate in this evening of creativity is just $35.
The next Wine, Women & Art event with artist Andrea Oswald will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20. A great girl’s night out, guests will create their own decorated wine glasses while sipping on wine and sampling some delicious goodies. The cost is just $25 per person and all supplies are included. “Garden Art Saturday – Under The Tent,” will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 22. Are you looking for funky, outrageous and repurposed pieces of artwork to enhance your garden? Garden Art Saturday will feature a wide variety of creative items, and a portion of this event’s proceeds will benefit the gallery’s Art Scholarship Fund for local high school students.
