The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, a popular Western New York tradition featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, is open for the 2013 season! Hours at the open-air market, a program of the Elmwood Village Association, are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine.
Providing musical entertainment on Saturday, May 18, will be singer/guitarist Don Z. from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m., singer/guitarist Sara Elizabeth from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m. and the Nickel City String Band from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The market also welcomes several community groups this Saturday, including the Lexington Co-operative Market, Canopy of Neighbors, Border Community Services, The Bark Park at Black Rock Canal Park, and market nutritionist Nicole Klem.
Offering wine tasting at the market this Saturday will be Arrowhead Spring Vineyards.
The Electronic Benefit Transfer system is once again in place at the market for the 2013 season. The system allows individuals receiving public assistance to purchase products from eligible market vendors using their EBT card.
Additionally, the market is once again partnering with the Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition to promote a smoke-free environment this season.
