Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery has listed a wide variety of upcoming events that should appeal to the creative side in everybody! The gallery is located at 1168 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca.
Colored pencil classes with artist Cindi O’Mara begin on Tuesday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. Learn the techniques of working with colored pencils, the blending of colors, the proper papers and more. Beginning to experienced students are welcome, and a supply list is available at www.etjgallery.com.
Creative Muse, a networking evening open to artists, writers, musicians and poets, will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28 and Thursday, April 25.
Wine, Women & Art, a “girl’s night out” with artist Andrea Oswald, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4 and May 23. Participants sip on a glass of wine, taste some goodies and paint a set of wine glasses, and everything is included for just $25. Call the gallery at 675-0204 to reserve your chair!
A book-signing event for “Most Likely to Survive,” the true story of West Seneca resident Matthew Faulkner’s miraculous recovery from traumatic brain injury, is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 6. Both Faulkner and author Joe Kirchmyer will be on hand to sign copies for Enjoy The Journey guests.
Altered book classes with artist and gallery owner Paulette Krakowski will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, April 10 through May 1. Participants will create a new and unique piece of art by transforming an old or discarded book. Work from a personal story, a series of imagery, family history or flight of fantasy. Students will sculpt their books using the pages to create windows and doors, or print can be used as a design element for chosen words, altering or creating new meanings. The cost is $80 for the four-week course.
“My Awesome Pet Photo,” an amateur photo contest open to ages 9 years and up, is currently accepting black-and-white and color entries. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, May 8. Entries are $15 per photographer, and photographers may submit up to three 8 x 10 photos mounted on foam core board. Please visit the gallery’s website for an entry form.
Another amateur photo contest, “The Essence of Water,” is also planned. The deadline for photos is Wednesday, June 5.
