While two major concert events kick off the April schedule at Budweiser Gardens in nearby London, Ontario, it’s the Tony and Academy Award-winning musical “Dreamgirls” that has the city abuzz!
Opening the concert slate at 7 p.m. April 3 is Billy Talent, with special guests Sum 41, Hollerado and Indian Handcrafts. In support of their fourth studio album, Billy Talent is bringing the Dead Silence Tour across Canada in 2013. Released in September, Dead Silence is the follow-up to Billy Talent I, II and III and was recorded in three different studios in Toronto, Vancouver and Los Angeles!
Next up, at 8 p.m. on April 11, is Great Big Sea! For the hundreds of thousands of fans who have sang, danced and celebrated with the band, Great Big Sea has been a constant factor in their lives. While musical fashions have come and gone, Great Big Sea has maintained an unswerving commitment to their original ideals — a belief that a marriage of their own creativity and the joyous folk music of their home in Newfoundland would be an unbeatable combination.
Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet presents “Sleeping Beauty” at 4 p.m. on April 13. Journey to an enchanted kingdom where good triumphs over evil through a single kiss. Relive the magic of your favorite childhood story with its cast of storybook characters, lavish sets, stunning costumes and thrilling classical dance.
The Investors Group Stars on Ice, the world’s premier figure skating production, invades Budweiser Gardens at 4 p.m. April 28. This year’s production will showcase the athleticism and grace that define the sport, through performances by some of its finest talent — including Canada’s own Patrick Chan!
“Dreamgirls” struts into town for a 7:30 p.m. performance on April 30. Full of onstage joy and backstage drama, this sensational production tells the story of an up-and-coming 1960’s girl singing group, and the triumphs and tribulations that come with fame and fortune. It’s a one-night event that you don’t want to miss!
