‘I Bought a Basketball Team’ to begin

Shooting for a new reality television show based on a South Buffalo resident who recently purchased a minor league professional basketball team will begin Monday in Western New York.

“I Bought a Basketball Team” will focus on the Buffalo Warriors and its owner, Ed Bednarz of Buffalo. The team will make its debut in March 2013 as part of the expanding Premier Basketball League.

“I’m not a rich man, I’m just a regular guy who decided to buy a sports franchise,” said Bednarz, owner of the Buffalo-based CLICKeTIX ticketing company. “In fact, my basketball experience started when I began selling tickets for a former minor league basketball team in Buffalo. But I think I can make this work because I’m going to try something different in terms of this television show, an exciting suburban venue to be announced soon, and signing players who want to play professionally and are hungry to go to the NBA. I truly believe we can bring a championship team to Buffalo!”

Filming for the television show will be handled by Full Circle Studios, which operates a fully equipped studio at 741 Main St. in downtown Buffalo. “I Bought a Basketball Team” is expected to begin airing on a major cable television network in February 2013.

The Buffalo Warriors made news this week by signing several players with NBA Development League experience to contracts, including 7’4” center Moussa Seck of Senegal.

The team’s training camp will begin in January, according to Bednarz, who is being advised by basketball and business professionals such as St. Bonaventure and NBA legend Bob Lanier; former Buffalo mayor and Canisius College basketball star Anthony Masiello; former NBA head of officiating Bernard Tolbert; NYS Assemblyman Mickey Kerns; and Buffalo businessman Stephen Banko.
