Christmas is just around the corner, and Fanshawe Pioneer Village in nearby London, Ontario has some terrific events slated to celebrate a historic December.
Victorian Village Christmas will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 15-16. Fanshawe Pioneer Village is re-creating the magic and tradition of a Victorian Christmas, and guests can visit with St. Nicholas, play Victorian parlor games and make a traditional tree ornament. Hop aboard a horse-drawn wagon for a beautiful winter ride around the Village and visit a selection of buildings preparing for Christmas.
Families are invited to a Visit with St. Nicholas on Dec. 8-9 and 15-16. Enjoy a hot pancake breakfast followed by a baked gingerbread man that you can decorate for dessert. Then, hop aboard the horse-drawn wagon for a beautiful winter ride around the Village as the buildings prepare for Christmas. The day wouldn't be complete without a visit from St. Nicholas himself, who drops by to see each child. Sittings are at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturdays, and 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $12 each and advance tickets are required.
A Dickens’ Dinner will take place on Dec. 8, 14 and 15. Guests will spend an evening in Victorian London as they enjoy a traditional 19th century Christmas dinner served country style in Pioneer Village Café, followed by an outstanding performance of “The Cricket on the Hearth,” a play based on the short story by Charles Dickens. Tickets are $50 each, with a maximum of 50 tickets sold per performance. Advance tickets are required.
