Rumors about the future of professional basketball in Buffalo — and the Buffalo Warriors basketball team — are circulating throughout Western New York and in professional basketball circles. And if these rumors are correct, some major announcements can be expected in the very near future.
When contacted this week, Buffalo Warriors owner Ed Bednarz would only say that he had “No comment ... yet!” Last season, the team participated in the Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League.
So what do we know? Or, more accurately, what is the rumor mill saying?
The big rumors seem to be centered around some well-known names tied to both the roster and the coaching staff. Among the prominent names being mentioned are former NBA and NFL players, some with ties to the Buffalo sports scene.
Additionally, several reports also have the Buffalo franchise moving to a much larger league for the upcoming season. And finally, there is even talk of a team-based reality television show on a major television network.
Should these rumors become reality, it will be the biggest news regarding professional basketball in Buffalo since the departure of the Buffalo Braves ... and much more positive for Western New York!
