Classes begin Sept. 10 at Dog Ears.

Dog Ears to host songwriters workshop

The Songwriters Universe, a six-session writing workshop with Alan Whitney, is scheduled to begin on Monday, Sept. 10, at the nonprofit Dog Ears Bookstore, 688 Abbott Road, Buffalo.

Held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday evenings through Oct. 15, the class is open to a maximum of 10 participants. Prior music experience is recommended but not required.

Topics covered in the six sessions will include: The Business of Song Today — Follow the Money; Creative Process for Song — The Songwriters Mojo; Song Craft — The way song pieces fit together, form and function; Words and Music — The Why of Song; Capturing Song — Recording the Document; and The Short Story of Song and the Future of Song.
