Four teams of beekeepers will compete for the title of Bee Beard Champion.

London is ‘abuzz’ about upcoming events

It’s perfectly understandable why there’s a lot of buzz being created about upcoming events in nearby London, Ontario. Let’s start with one you simply won’t bee-lieve: The eighth annual Bee Beard Competition!

Held on July 28 at the Clovermead Adventure Farm in Aylmer, this unusual competition will feature four teams of beekeepers competing for the title of Bee Beard Champion. Using live honeybees with real stingers, the brave contestants will adorn their faces with crawling bees and strut down the catwalk to perform in front of judges and the audience. The competition bee-gins at 2:30 p.m.

Clovermead is located at 11302 Imperial Road. Admission is $10 per person plus tax and includes access to the Adventure Farm’s wagon rides, bee barrel train rides, huge jumping pillow, pedal go carts and plenty of fresh family fun! Speaking of competitions, local and out-of-town restaurants will compete for the title of best ribs from Aug. 2-6 at the annual London Rib Fest. And from Aug. 4-5, travel back in time at Fanshawe Pioneer Village for the Fanshawe Frolic. Guests will learn the social dances of the Regency Period followed by supper and a period ball on Saturday, and a family dance with afternoon tea on Sunday.
