A wide variety of classes and events for experienced artists or individuals just looking for an outlet for their creativity are on tap at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, 1168 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.
June’s art exhibit opening, “Photography of Dan Benevento,” will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 8. Free and open to the public, please stop in and meet the artist!
A new class, “Create Your Own Floor Canvas,” will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on three consecutive Tuesdays, June 12, 19 and 26. Participants will create their own 24- by 36-inch floor canvas for their favorite room, and the cost is $75 for non gallery members or $65 for members. The deadline is register is June 9.
Artist Gary Melius of Williamsville will teach a Wire Wrapping II Class at the gallery from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21. Participants will learn the mysteries of wire wrapped jewelry cold fusion style. Cold fusion uses only wires to harness beautiful gemstones and other flat objects with no glues or soldering involved. Attendees will make a beautiful Amethyst pendant which is theirs to keep! The cost of this class is $65 and pre-registration is required by June 19.
Have a little creativity with your morning coffee as another Try-It Saturday takes place from 10 a.m. to noon June 23. The topic for this class will be altered art glass vases. The cost is just $20 and the registration deadline is June 21.
Garden Art Saturday will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 30. Creative one-of-a-kind pieces of art for your home garden, all produced by local artists, will be available for purchase.
A variety of children’s art classes will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during July and August. Please visit the gallery’s website at www.etjgallery.com for more information.
An Altered Books Class, a great class for those who like to work in mixed media, will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, July 3, 10, 17 and 24. The cost is $75 for non gallery members or $65 for members, and the registration deadline is June 30.
A new class titled “Time to Tangle — Creative Line Drawing,” by artist Linda Swanekamp, is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, July 11, 18 and 25. One of the most basic and important elements of art is the line, and it is through lines that an artist can create elaborate artwork. The cost for this class is $54 for non-members or $48 for members.
July’s art exhibit opening, “West Seneca Art Society,” will encompass the work of several exceptional area artists. The opening will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 13, and the public is invited.
The very popular Wine, Women & Art class will continue on Thursday, July 19, and Thursday, Aug. 23. Pre-registration is required two days prior to the class. The fee is $25 and includes all supplies, wine and snacks, and participants create a unique piece of art to take home!
“Summer Moments,” an amateur photography contest, will also take place in August. Participants may enter up to three 8- by 10-inch photos mounted on black or white foam core. The cost is $15 and the deadline is Aug. 4. Entry forms are available on the gallery’s website and prizes will be awarded at a reception.
