Enjoy The Journey announces events

A variety of exhibits and classes are on tap at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery in West Seneca, and the gallery has also announced details of a summer internship program for local high school students.

“Painting What I Know,” by artist Heather Lynn Harris, remains on display through June 2. Paintings include landscapes, portraits and man’s best friend. A photography exhibit by artist Dan Benevento is scheduled from June 6 through July 7, with an opening reception planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 8.

Another evening of the popular Wine, Women & Art class has been added to the calendar from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14, with a registration deadline of June 12. Artist Andrea Oswald will teach participants how to paint a set of wine glasses that they will take home. The fee is $25 and includes all supplies, wine and snacks.

Try-It Saturdays: Creativity with your morning coffee, takes place from 10 a.m. to noon May 19. The topic will be rubber stamping and embossing, and creating one-of-a-kind cards with this technique. The cost is $20 and all supplies are included. Please register by May 17. June’s Try-it Saturday class will take place on June 23, and the project will be mixed media altered glass vases. The registration deadline is June 21.

A new class titled Floor Canvas Workshop will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on three consecutive Tuesdays, June 12, 19 and 26. Participants will create their own 24- by 36-inch floor canvas, and the cost is $75.

Artist Gary Melius of Williamsville will teach another style of jewelry wire wrapping in a second class at the gallery, to be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21. The beautiful piece of jewelry you will go home with is a wire-wrapped Amethyst stone with sterling silver. The cost of the class is $65 and includes all supplies. Participants must pre-register for the class.

“Summer Moments,” an amateur photography contest, will take place in August. Participants may enter up to three 8- by 10-inch photos mounted on black or white foam core. The cost is $15 and the deadline is Aug. 4. Entry forms are available on the gallery’s website, and prizes will be awarded at a reception.

Enjoy The Journey is also offering unpaid summer internships from June through August for students enrolled in the West Seneca Art Academy. Students accepted as interns will work four hours per week and should have knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel. Applications should be submitted to gallery owner Paulette Krakowski by May 25, after which students will be contacted for a short interview.
