A variety of educational art classes and numerous fun events are scheduled during April and May at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, Western New York’s center for creativity!
There’s still time to register for Try-it Saturday, taking place from 10 a.m. to noon on April 28. This month’s project is altered/mixed media bottles, so stop in and enjoy a little creativity with your morning coffee. The registration deadline is April 26 and the cost is just $20 and includes all materials.
May’s Try-It Saturday is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on May 19, and the theme is rubber-stamping and embossing. Participants are asked to register by May 17.
Collage classes will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday evenings on April 16, 23, and 30. The cost for this series of classes is $58 and the registration deadline is April 14. Themes include: Working with the word “creativity,” creating a self-portrait with no photos of one’s self, and working in three colors. Please contact the studio for a list of needed supplies.
On Thursday, May 10, the studio will host a Jewelry - Wire Wrapping Class with Gary Melius from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The registration deadline is May 5 and the cost is $65. This lesson includes all supplies and participants will create a fine piece of jewelry.
Digital photography classes, “Learning about Your Own Camera” with professional photographer Brian Machelski, are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays May 2, 9, 16 and 23. The cost for the entire series is $85 and registration closes on April 28. Please bring your digital camera to class with you. Topics will include dynamics of digital cameras, four major aspects of photography, composition, and styles and subject matter.
“Wine, Women & Art, A Girl’s Night Out,” runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday evenings once a month. Participants will paint on glass and create a piece of art to take home while enjoying a glass of wine. Classes will take place on May 24 and June 7, with reservations due two days prior. The cost is $25 per session and classes are limited to 10 ladies per class. Please call early as classes fill up fast!
“Painting What I Know” with artist Heather Harris will be May’s featured gallery exhibit and will include an assemblage of children’s portraits, man’s best friend and landscapes of nature. The exhibit will run from May 9 through June 2, with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 11.
