While students and staff were on mid-winter break in late February, workers were busy installing a new gym floor at Annunciation School in Elma. The school, located at 7580 Clinton St., serves children attending Pre-K3, Pre-K4, Kindergarten and Grades 1-8.
The new Omnisports synthetic sports floor will accommodate a multitude of sporting and non-sporting events and activities. Displaying a woodgrain appearance, the floor features the Annunciation Eagles logo at center court and also includes shock-absorbent features that are beneficial to athletes of all ages.
“Replacing the original gym floor is a project that has been in the works for several years,” said Rev. Eugene P. Ulrich, pastor at Annunciation. “We are very thankful to everyone involved in the project for seeing it through to fruition, especially Chet Lewalski, our Buildings & Grounds Committee chairman. The gym is currently used by several organizations associated with Annunciation School and Church, so our entire parish community will benefit from it.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing, attended by Annunciation students, parents, teachers and other guests, took place on Monday, March 5.
